Casa Materna
Several years ago Anna was blessed to be able to travel to Nicaragua and work with missionaries in Jinotega. She fell in love with the people there, as so many do. Mision Para Cristo reaches out to the community in many ways, and one of those ways is through serving the local Casa Materna. Anna was able to go deliver supplies, visit and love on these brave women who are waiting to meet their babies. There was even one mother who went into labor while their group was there, and she got to walk with her to the hospital. These are strong, beautiful women who come from the rural areas and have had very limited medical care, if any at all. Many are single and as young as 12 years old.
Although that day was many years ago, this program has grown and so has the work that Mision Para Cristo does to serve them. They purchase and collect different supplies for the babies and mothers (onesies, baby hats, baby socks, blankets, maxi pads, diapers, etc.) and when groups come to visit, they show love pampering the mothers with a manicure or pedicure or helping them make a blanket to wrap their newborn in at the hospital. There are now four locations that they reach out to serve the physical and spiritual needs of these mothers.
A portion of each purchase goes towards the supplies for these mothers. These beautiful, brave women who are sharing the the journey of motherhood, just like us.
